WATCHMAKING HERITAGE

About Zenith

Zenith traces its origins to 1865 in Le Locle. Renowned for in-house movements, the brand later introduced its high-frequency El Primero chronograph in 1969.

Zenith was founded in Le Locle by Georges Favre-Jacot in 1865. Its El Primero of 1969 was one of the first integrated automatic chronograph movements, operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour. During the quartz crisis, watchmaker Charles Vermot preserved plans and production tools, helping the calibre survive. The 2542 PC in this watch belongs to Zenith's earlier automatic tradition.
