A note on the brand's history: Universal Genève

Established in the late nineteenth century, Universal Genève became known for chronographs, elegant watches and slim movements. Its 1954 Polerouter was designed by the young Gérald Genta; the company later developed thin automatic micro-rotor calibres.

Brand history — Universal Genève

Established in the late nineteenth century, Universal Genève distinguished itself through both its chronographs and its refined, slim watches. In 1954, the Polerouter, designed by a very young Gérald Genta, accompanied the rise of commercial air routes crossing polar regions. A noteworthy development followed when the company introduced automatic micro-rotor movements, allowing considerably thinner watches than many conventional automatic designs.
