Founded in Le Locle in 1846, Ulysse Nardin first built its reputation on the precision of its marine chronometers, instruments essential for navigators to determine their position at sea. At just 23, the founder opened his workshop with a loan of 500 francs from his father. A few years later, he invested in a precision regulator clock to check the performance of his own instruments.
