A note on the brand's history: Rolex

Hans Wilsdorf established Rolex in the early twentieth century. The 1926 Oyster case, the automatic Perpetual winding system and the Datejust of 1945 became milestones in the company's history.

Brand history — Rolex

Founded by Hans Wilsdorf in the early twentieth century, Rolex made a lasting mark on watchmaking with its 1926 Oyster case and, later, Perpetual automatic winding. Introduced in 1945, the Datejust combined water resistance, automatic winding and a date window. A notable chapter followed in 1927, when Rolex used Mercedes Gleitze's English Channel swim to demonstrate the Oyster's resistance, turning a sporting achievement into memorable advertising.
