WATCHMAKING HERITAGE
About Lip
Founded in Besançon in 1867 by Emmanuel Lipmann, Lip is an important name in French watchmaking. Its heritage includes electro-mechanical movements and original designs for dive and sports watches.
Founded by Emmanuel Lipmann in Besançon in 1867, Lip became a major name in French industrial watchmaking. Its Nautic-Ski of 1967, produced around the firm's centenary, used an internal rotating bezel. In 1973, Lip workers became known for the phrase 'We make, we sell, we pay ourselves', during a landmark labour dispute. The Stop Parking shows another side of the firm's inventive mechanical watch designs.
