A note on the brand's history: Lip

Lip originated in Besançon in 1867 with Emmanuel Lipmann and became a notable name in French watchmaking. Its history includes electric watches and diving models, notably the Nautic-Ski introduced during the brand's centenary in 1967.

Brand history — Lip

Founded in Besançon in 1867 by Emmanuel Lipmann, LIP became one of the great industrial stories of French watchmaking, developing both electric watches and dive watches. For its centenary in 1967, the Nautic-Ski stood out with its internal bezel. In 1973, the LIP workers wrote a celebrated chapter in French social history with the slogan “We make them, we sell them, we pay ourselves”, reflecting their remarkable effort to keep the factory operating.
